John E. Tommy, Program Manager | Education & Prevention
Mr. John E. Tommy serves as the Program Manager for Education and Prevention at the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). He joined the commission in 2021 as a Prevention Officer and quickly established himself as a high performer. His exceptional work ethic and consistent results set him apart from his peers. When the Program Manager position became available, the Body of Commissioners (BoC) unanimously recognized Mr. Tommy's capabilities and decisively promoted him to this key role.
Mr. Tommy serves as focal person of UNDP’s projects. As the focal person for the UNDP Rule of Law and Social Accountability projects, I successfully led the planning, coordination, and implementation of impactful public education and awareness campaigns in Bomi, Grand Bassa, Nimba, and Grand Gedeh Counties. These campaigns effectively raised significant awareness of the New LACC law, the Whistleblower Act, and the Witness Protection Act.
In addition, I executed the Social Accountability Project across 11 counties, delivering comprehensive training to judges, magistrates, clerks, bailiffs, sheriffs, women's rights organizations, youth groups, local leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), and community-based organizations (CBOs). My efforts brought crucial knowledge and resources to key stakeholders, strengthening the overall rule of law and social accountability within the region.
Before joining the LACC, Mr. Tommy played a crucial role in the Legislature of Liberia, where he successfully managed the activities of the Representative of District Three, Mont County, with a strong focus on strategic planning, budgeting, and programming.
With extensive experience in education, Mr. Tommy has held prominent leadership positions across several schools. From 2014 to 2016, he served as the Principal of Mount Zion Christian Academy and took on the role of Director of the Mount Zion Academy School System. Demonstrating his expertise prior to his principalship, he taught Economics at esteemed institutions like Calvary Temple AGM, James N. Davies SDA, and Royal Christian Foundation.
From 2008, to -2020, Mr. Tommy took on the role of Finance Officer at the Excellent General Clearing Company in the Freeport of Monrovia. He implemented a series of impactful reforms that significantly strengthened the financial standing of the organization.
Mr. Tommy earned a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Liberia in 2020, following his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Public Administration from AMEZU in 2010. Driven to enhance systems and controls, he proactively enrolled at Gonet Academy in 2024, where he obtained a Certificate in Internal Audit and Control.
