Executive Assistant | Program Manager
Vivian S. Akoto is a seasoned professional in Liberia’s fight against corruption, currently serving as the Executive Assistant and Program Manager to the Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). Her tenure at the LACC spans nine years, during which she has held various pivotal roles, including Prevention Assistant and Program Assistant to the Commissioner overseeing Education & Prevention. In these capacities, Ms. Akoto has been instrumental in implementing risk assessments across multiple Ministries and Agencies and has led the National Integrity Committee (NIC), a USAID-sponsored initiative aimed at minimizing corruption in high-risk institutions. She also co-led the Social Safety Net; a project sponsored by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Gender and social protection meant to put cash in the pockets of people at the lowest strata in the society.
Before joining the LACC, Ms. Akoto accumulated diverse experience in both the public and private sectors. She served as an Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Planning on a UNDP-funded project, working closely with the Deputy Minister for Regional Planning. She later assumed the role of Executive Secretary to the CEO at Atlantic Life & General Insurance Company. Her international experience includes serving as a Protocol Officer assigned to the Military within the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
In her current role, Ms. Akoto has significantly contributed to initiatives such as the Asset Declaration & Verification Process, to enhance transparency and accountability in Liberia’s public sector. She also represents the LACC in the UNCAC Peer Review Group, leading peer reviews for countries like Somalia and completing those for Albania. Additionally, she serves as the focal point for the World Bank-funded Government Reform and Accountability Transformation (GREAT) Project. 
Ms. Akoto is actively involved in global anti-corruption efforts. She has been invited to participate as an expert in the International Anti-Corruption Academy’s meeting on measuring the effectiveness of Anti-Corruption Agencies, scheduled for May 2025 in Austria. Her academic pursuits include dual master’s degrees in International Relations from the University of Liberia and Anti-Corruption Studies from the International Anti-Corruption Academy(IACA) in Austria. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the United Methodist University. Her specialized training encompasses risk assessment, financial crime investigation techniques and Whole of Government Approach certifications from USAID, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Academy in Abuja, Nigeria and Eastern and Southern African Management Institute(ESAMI)
