A New Generation of Governance Professionals and Civic Leaders is Taking the Next Step Toward Strengthening Accountability and Integrity in Liberia
Twenty-three (23) fellows have successfully graduated from the five-month Governance and Anti-Corruption Fellowship (GAF) Program, implemented by NAYMOTE Partners for Democratic Development in partnership with the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).
The graduation ceremony was held Wednesday, September 15, at the Liberia Learning Center in Paynesville, marking the successful completion of the first cohort of this pioneering fellowship program in Liberia.
The fellowship equipped emerging leaders, civic leaders, university student leaders, and young public sector professionals with knowledge, skills, and networks to promote: Integrity and ethical leadership, Transparency and accountability, Good governance, Civic responsibility, Anti-corruption advocacy, Stronger and more accountable institutions
Delivering the keynote address, LACC Commissioner for Monitoring and Investigation, Dr. Miatta Jeh, challenged the graduates to become active contributors to building accountable institutions and strengthening democracy in Liberia.
Speaking on the theme, “The Role of Young Governance Professionals and Civic Leaders in Building Accountable Institutions, Combating Corruption, and Strengthening Democracy in Liberia,” Dr. Jeh emphasized that corruption affects critical sectors such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, public procurement, and public confidence in institutions.
Meanwhile, graduating class President Amelia F. Lardner reminded her colleagues that their journey does not end with the receipt of their certificates.
“We are no longer just observers. We are administrators, advocates and change agents.”
She urged the graduates to “lead with courage and serve with accountability.”

The LACC congratulates all 23 graduates and wishes them success as they transition into the internship phase of the program, where they will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the fellowship.
