Strengthening Our Capacity to Combat Corruption: Training with the EFCC

On January 13, 2025, the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) began a transformative four-day training program in collaboration with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria. This training, held at the EFCC Academy in Karu, Abuja, focuses on honing the skills necessary for effective financial crime investigations and investigative report writing.

The capacity-building initiative aims to empower LACC officers with the tools and knowledge essential for the broad-based investigation and analysis of financial crimes. The training sessions are designed to enhance our capabilities in tackling corruption and to support the fight against economic crimes that undermine the integrity of our nation.

During the welcome address, the EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede emphasized the importance of knowledge over strength, stating that the skills acquired during this training will accelerate our participants’ careers and equip them to perform their duties effectively.

The Deputy Commander of the EFCC and Commandant of the EFCC Academy, DCE Chinwe Ndubeze, reassured participants regarding the high calibre of resource persons available to facilitate the training. 

Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE II Aliyu Wali, highlighted that this training underscores the critical importance of regional cooperation in our collective fight against corruption and financial crimes. He emphasized the value of sharing ideas and strategies to enhance our efforts.

In expressing gratitude, Dr. Miatta Jeh, the leader of the Liberian delegation, conveyed heartfelt thanks to the EFCC management and the Nigerian government for their hospitality and support in this initiative.
