LACC, UNDP Concludes A 3-Day Training for Judiciary Staff in Bong County

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), successfully concluded a three-day training workshop for judiciary staff in Gbarnga, Bong County. The training, held from September 12-September 14, targeted judiciary staff from Bong, Lofa, Nimba, and Margibi Counties and focused on building capacity to strengthen the fight against corruption in Liberia.

The workshop aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote a corruption-free society within their respective counties. It is part of the LACC's broader efforts to empower key stakeholders in the justice system to lead by example in the fight against corruption.

During the closing ceremony, participants expressed their gratitude to the LACC and UNDP for providing this crucial opportunity for capacity building. They vowed to extend the knowledge gained to their communities and urged the LACC to decentralize its efforts across all 15 counties of Liberia to ensure broader access to anti-corruption resources and support.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Ernest Hughes, Executive Vice Chairperson of the LACC, commended the participants for their active engagement and commitment. "You are now ambassadors of the fight against corruption. I urge you to be living examples of the principles you have learned and take this knowledge back to your counties to foster a culture of accountability," said Mr. Hughes. He further thanked the UNDP for its continued support of the LACC's initiatives.

On behalf of the UNDP, Mr. Louis Kuukpen reiterated the organization's dedication to supporting Liberia's anti-corruption efforts. "A corruption-free society is fundamental to achieving better education, healthcare, and security for all citizens. We must put Liberia first in everything we do," Mr. Kuukpen emphasized.

In addition to the workshop, the LACC and UNDP teams held a street engagement in Gbarnga City, interacting with residents to raise awareness about the harmful effects of corruption and encouraging collective efforts toward a more transparent society.
