Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission Participates in Official Opening Ceremony of Public Hearings into Auditor General’s Reports

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) on Monday, July 15, 2024, participated in the official opening ceremony of the Public Hearings into the Auditor General’s reports, conducted by the Joint Public Accounts & Expenditure Committee (PAC) of the 55th Legislature. The event was held at the Capitol Building, marking a significant step forward in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in Liberia. 

The ceremony, attended by key government officials, civil society representatives, and international partners, emphasized the importance of addressing findings and recommendations in the Auditor General’s reports. These reports are crucial for identifying areas of financial mismanagement and corruption, ensuring that corrective measures are implemented. 

The LACC commends the Joint Public Accounts & Expenditure Committee for its diligence and dedication to holding public officials accountable. The LACC remains steadfast in its mission to combat corruption through investigation, prosecution, prevention, and public education. Participation in the PAC’s public hearings aligns with the Commission’s strategic objectives to foster a culture of accountability and strengthen institutional frameworks for better governance.

As the hearings progress, the LACC will continue to offer its expertise and support to the PAC, ensuring that all findings are thoroughly examined, and appropriate actions are taken. The Commission encourages all stakeholders, including the public to stay engaged in these processes which are fundamental to the nation’s development and democratic integrity.
