LACC Trained and Certificated Over 60 Local Government Officials

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, the UNDP Resident Representative in Liberia, said that this training is followed by a successful rollout of phase one in Region 1, adding that they are proud to extend this work to Region 2, engaging stakeholders from Grand Bassa, Margibi, and Rivercess Counties. He thanked the LACC for partnering with the UNDP as they companion the fight against corruption.

“Your presence here today signals renewed momentum and a deepening commitment to local-level leadership in the fight against corruption. Corruption is not simply a financial infraction; it is a barrier to human development. It siphons resources from classrooms, clinics, and roads. It weakens institutions and fractures the trust between citizens and the state.” Mr. Dia noted.

He added that in Liberia, where local government officials are the face of public service delivery, your leadership is indispensable. Noting that the standards the local government officials uphold and the choices they make shape how governance is experienced at the community level.

The Vice Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Mr. Ernest Hughes, told the participants that Liberia is all we have, and we need to collectively fight corruption.

He urged the participants to make use of the time now to interact with their leaders, especially on issues affecting them in the communities and districts.
